Physiatry – also called Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and abbreviated PM&R - is a branch of medicine which aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists do not perform surgery, but instead use "physical" means, such as physical therapy and medications, to restore optimal function to people with injuries to the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. Negovetich is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and treats the following conditions:

• Lower back and neck pain
• Arthritis
• Work injuries
• Sports/activity injuries
• Overuse syndromes
• Myofascial pain
• Joint, muscle and nerve pain

Dr. Negovetich uses a combination of therapeutic exercise, prescription medications, acupuncture, injections, orthotics, and modalities to treat many of these problems.

Dr. Negovetich also performs electromyographies (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) to diagnose problems with muscles and nerves.

Philosophy: Using a multidisciplinary approach, Dr. Ed works closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and primary care physicians. As a physiatrist, his primary concern is not necessarily to restore his patients’ overall function, but rather to help his patients function optimally within the limitations placed upon them.
