Physiatry
I grew up in northwest Indiana, specifically Highland, IN, and attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville for my bachelor's degree. From there, I earned my medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. I chose to specialize in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) in part because it was a nice blend of sports medicine, orthopedics and neurology ... all of which interested me as a medical student. I also enjoyed the diversity of the field and its focus on function rather than just chasing blood tests. I did my specialty training in PM&R also at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Along the way I married a Batesville girl in 2001 after being introduced by a mutual friend. Her maiden name is Aimee Clark. She attended Oldenburg Academy before graduating from Indiana University. She was an elementary school teacher in Indianapolis where we spent most of our first eight years together. While living in Indianapolis, we frequently visited the Batesville area for family and local events. Upon the completion of my PM&R training in 2006, we were looking to get out of the "big city" and the Batesville/Greensburg area made sense. Our son was three years old and Aimee was expecting our daughter at the time. We were looking for a good place to raise a family, we both liked the area and my wife's family was still mostly local and with our own growing family, we were excited to be closer to family. It has worked out better than we had hoped and we have "sunk our roots" so to speak. Our third child is due in the Summer of 2010.
With a young family, most of my free time is spent with their activities like soccer, baseball or swimming in the summer. My hobbies include Chicago Bears football (I grew up just outside of Chicago) and Hoosier basketball. I try to make it back for Wabash College football games once a year as well.
